Basil Sandhurst, also known as “Controller,” is a Marvel supervillain created by writer Archie Goodwin and artist George Tuska.
He first appeared in Iron Man Vol. 1 #2 in April 1969.
Basil is a scientist specializing in chemistry and electromechanics. One day, after a heated argument with his brother Vincent in the lab, he accidentally causes an explosion. The blast leaves him disfigured and disabled. Stricken with guilt, Vincent outfits Basil with an exoskeleton powered by the brain energy of individuals linked to his control discs.
