Creators and HistoryHector Ayala, Marvel Comics' first White Tiger, is a historic character created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist George Pérez, first appearing in December 1975 in Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #19. Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Hector was a student in New York when he discovered the three Jade Tiger Amulets; by wearing them, he transformed into the White Tiger, gaining superhuman strength and mastery of martial arts. He fought crime alongside heroes such as Spider-Man and Daredevil, but his career was marked by tragedy—notably the death of his parents following the revelation of his secret identity and his own untimely death while unjustly accused of murder, leaving a legacy that would be carried on by other members of his family.
