Daken, born Akihiro, is the son of Wolverine and Itsu. He first appeared in Wolverine Origins #10 in March 2007, created by Daniel Way and Steve Dillon. After being torn from his mother’s womb following her assassination by the Winter Soldier, Daken was raised in Japan amidst hatred and rejection, shaping a cynical, manipulative, and violent personality. Like his father, he possesses a healing factor, heightened senses, and retractable claws—two on each hand and one from each wrist. He is known for his use of poisoned claws and fluid sexuality, which he often leverages to manipulate his adversaries. Daken has opposed Wolverine many times, joined the Dark Avengers under the Wolverine mantle, and oscillated between anti-hero and antagonist roles before seeking redemption more recently on Krakoa alongside the X-Men.
