Nightside is a fictional character—an alien female of unknown race—who serves as a member of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard. She possesses the ability to generate extra-dimensional darkness, which creates the sensation of falling and induces terrifying nightmares. Despite her powers, Nightside is reluctant to use them and harbors a personal fear of the dark.

She has faced off against the X-Men and the Starjammers on numerous occasions, remaining steadfastly loyal to the Shi’ar Throne. Nightside first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #107 in 1977 and was created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Dave Cockrum.
