Hector Ayala, Marvel Comics' first White Tiger, is a historic character created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist George Pérez, first appearing in December 1975 in Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #19. Hailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Hector was a student in New York when he discovered the three mystical Jade Tiger Amulets; by wearing them, he transformed into White Tiger, gaining superhuman strength and mastery of martial arts. He fought crime alongside heroes like Spider-Man and Daredevil, but his career was marked by tragedy, including the death of his parents after his secret identity was revealed and his own untimely death while unjustly accused of murder, leaving a legacy that would be carried on by other family members.
